To attract these birds:

• Mount the nest box on a post or on a building 5 to 15 feet from the ground
• Install a predator guard if using a post (for example: install a baffle or wrap the top of the post with metal stove pipe/metal flashing)
• Position close to overhead cover – on a building place under eaves/soffits, or on a post under tree branches
• Eastern Phoebes prefer to nest near fresh water sources
• Barn Swallows need mud available nearby, and will protect the nest from passersby so place it away from active doorways and walking paths
